CNN Needs Editor, Nobody Cares

In Mass Media, Rants and Raves, media monopoly on January 5, 2009 at 5:36 am

Can somebody help me with this one? Here on WordPress, CNN recently posted a blog regarding Harry Reid’s criticism of President Bush:

“Reid pointed to Bush’s failed plan to privatize the Social Security program and also said Bush “has done his very best to destroy Medicare” in order support his assessment of Bush’s presidency.”

“in order support his assessment”? I’ve read that line four times and still don’t get it, but I guess it’s just a rush job. And it seems that CNN, FOX and the other major networks are “blogging” for the sole purpose of extending their already-monopolized influence over WordPress and every other blogging community on the web. Excuse me, but FUCK the major networks. The “article” is two paragraphs long, the essence of which can be distilled into one sentence: Harry Reid said Bush is the worst President we’ve ever had. And big deal, because about a billion people on the planet have been saying that for the past eight years, but the disturbing point is that the “article” is followed by over 300 comments.

In fact, the comments had to be disabled due to the number of people commenting. Why? “I got my name on a CNN thread,” he said. They’re vanity comments, because what’s the point of the “story”? What real “news” is CNN providing us with? It’s a damn shame to have so many educated people spending their time making slave-like slobber-comments on a blog whose sole purpose is to monopolize and control the online stream, gather marketing information and distract you whenever there’s a story that the power-players don’t want you to know about.

“FOX NEWS SUCKS” + “WordPress Rocks”

In Mass Media, Rants and Raves, corporate welfare on May 5, 2008 at 4:20 am

It is unfortunate that media giants like CNN and Fox “news” dominate the “top posts” section of the wordpress global dashboard. I don’t understand why WordPress even allows it. I clicked on the Fox link to make a comment telling them how much they suck, and waited 2 minutes while my computer went ape-shit trying to deal with all the bullshit they load the browser with, including cookies and IP finders that sell your information to SPAMMERS immediately after collecting it.

WordPress, you rock. I truly appreciate freeware and free user sites like this, but FUCK the mainstream media! Like they don’t have enough control already? I’d like to see some of the top WordPress sites of REAL PEOPLE. I know I can find them, but why let the giant, ass-fucking corporations spew disinformation and propaganda all over a user-friendly, people-friendly site like WORDPRESS? I suppose you have to pay the bills, yes? But how unfortunate. I’d almost prefer a few advertisements, if I knew Fox would be DENIED from force-feeding what we get on the television every day already.

Am I alone in this opinion? I wonder what other WordPress users think!

Politicians are Corporate Bitches…and Monsanto is the Anti-Christ

…and Monsanto is the Anti-Christ

Why are newspapers supporting political candidates? It’s one thing when Senator Obama gets endorsed by Ted Kennedy, but quite another thing when the L.A. Times endorses him—especially after they endorse McCain on the same pages! How can anyone endorse both Obama AND McCain? OK L.A. Times, you’ve truly turned to—in my humble opinion—shit.

Same thing goes for the N.Y. Daily News and (unfortunately) the N.Y. Times, when they endorsed Hillary Clinton. What happened to newspapers being… what’s that term called? Oh yeah, “objective”? Are they pushing a political agenda on the American people because they’re owned by big businesses? Then again, why should big business care about who gets into office? Yeah, RIGHT!

It has become increasing clear that very few—if any—mainstream news outlets are objective. The same could be said for any news outlet I suppose, everyone has a bias to a degree, but the whole POINT of journalism is to remain indifferent. The New York Times should not be endorsing anyone, simply reporting the facts as they arise. Same goes for the rest of ‘em….

That is why the web is increasingly becoming the most important source of independent, unbiased news and information. Let’s hope “The Man” doesn’t gobble up every PING, search engine and re-direction there is (which, by the way, is happening with Fox “News” on WordPress). Otherwise, what seems unbiased will slowly become a mainstream FEED, which equals: JUST PLAIN CENSORED.

Take the case of Jane Akre and Steve Wilson, two Fox reporters in Tampa who, in 1997, were fired for refusing to revise a story regarding recombinant bovine growth hormone produced by Monsanto, a multi-billion dollar company that brought you such favorites as Agent Orange, “Terminator “seeds, and an ongoing series of heinous genetically altered chemical DUMPING right in your back yard.

Fox news bowed to pressure from Monsanto and fired the reporters who refused to alter the facts of the story. The reporters sued Fox—and won—but the decision was reversed on appeal. Why? According to Columbia Journalism Review, “Fox successfully appealed against judgment on the grounds that its First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and press protected it from such litigation, and that the FCC’s policy against distortion of news was not a sufficiently significant rule for its breach to invoke the whistleblower law.”

Which means, oddly enough, that Fox didn’t argue it HADN’T distorted the facts, rather, it’s argument was that The First Amendment gives them the RIGHT to present a “distortion of the news.” And they call it “Fair and Balanced.”

What is even scarier is the fact that a giant corporation like Fox won’t even mess with Monsanto who, one could argue, poses the biggest threat to the survival of the human race. Their genetically modified foods are unknowingly consumed daily by Americans (banned in every other first world country, by the way) have been shown to cause liver and kidney toxification in rats (then released for human consumption after a 90 day “test” period) and are cross-pollinating organic foods every time the wind blows.

Perhaps the most transparent indication that Monsanto is run by the Anti-Christ is, after this accidental pollination occurs, they sue the affected farmers for “patent infringement”. Hillarious! Of course this is all kept quiet by our Politicians (who receive PAC money and LOBBYING money from Monsanto) and the Media pundits who, as one can imagine, keep their mouths shut by stuffing them with ORGANIC FOOD.
